Archlord incorporates a PvP system that is neither limited by race or class. Once a player has attained level 15 he is eligible to participate in PvP. PvP can happen anywhere in Chantra except for in major cities, which act as safe zones. In other words, always be on your guard.

First Attacker Status
To attack a selected player, they must be double-clicked while the ‘Ctrl’ key is being held. This will initiate the attack and turn the players name (in the Target Condition window) to red. The player initiating the combat will become the first attacker, with a purple skull appearing above their head. A player with the 1st attacker icon can be freely attacked by any other player for 20 minutes.
Villain Points
If you kill a player that is 4 levels or more below your level you receive 2 villain points (this might change as Codemasters tweaks the system, but currently the number's supposed to be 2). Once 40 villain points are accumulated you will be named a rogue and a rogue icon will be displayed above your head. There are three levels of rogue status depending on your number of villain points each with increasing disadvantages.
Villain points can only be removed by the use of pardon scrolls. Pardon Scroll Pardon scrolls can be collected and turned in to a Pardoner NPC , located in some towns and villages. To remove 10 villain points you must turn in 50 pardon scrolls. Even with pardon scrolls however, rogue status cannot be removed for a minimum of 120 min. Also be aware of the fact that Pardon Scrolls are rare drops, so if you decide to go rogue, be prepared to be it for quite a while.
Rogue Levels
White Skull Left Level 1 – 40 Villain Points
* Trading between players is disabled
* Guards will attack you
* You will drop more items upon PvP death
* Partying with other players is disabled
Yellow Skull Left Level 2 – 60 Villain Points
* All Level 1 Rogue disadvantages
* Trading with all NPC’s and the Auction House is disabled
Red Skull Left Level 3 – 100 Villain Points
* All Level 1 & 2 Rogue disadvantages
* 9% xp loss upon death
* 50% decrease in xp gain
* You can not be the 1st attacker
As you can see these penalties are quite harsh. Combined with the bounty system (people can actually put a bounty on your head at the Mayor of every town) and the low droprate of pardon scrolls, people will find it very hard to play the game as a rogue, up to the point that it'll break your character unless you're prepared to work very hard. Here's a tip for aspiring rogues: your storage will always remain accessible! Make good use of it.
Anti-Rogues: How do I prevent getting ganked?
Rogue system or not, a PvP game will always accomodate this group of players that sets out to kill those who are of a lower level, those who are monsters and so on. To be honest, it's impossible to completely prevent being ganked. All of you who want to grind in relative peace though before you throw yourself in the midst of PvP mayhem could try the following advice:
1. ALWAYS BE ON YOUR GUARD. You can't repeat this enough. This is a PvP game, expect to get in trouble. Be especially wary of players with a skull next to their name. If you've actually read this article up to now, you should know why.
2. LEVEL IN PARTIES. It happens to be so that a group of players are able to kill a higher level player. At the least, a ganker will be more reluctant to attack a group if he can get weaker prey too. Partying also gives you the advantage of auto-loot, an extra status bonus and good parties are actually able to level faster than someone solo.
3. JOIN A GUILD. An active guild that cares about their members levelling up might help you out by protecting you/taking revenge. Do beware not to start a guild vendetta though :p
4. CHANGE LEVELLING SPOTS. Sometimes it can be as easy as that. Change your location, gankers can't be everywhere at the same time.
Battle Squares
Once a player has reached level 15, he is eligible to enter dedicated PvP combat grounds called Battle Squares. When inside a Battle Square, both 1st attacker and villain points penalties do not apply. Battle Squares are not only for players. Monsters can also be found in Battle Squares so a player should be careful when battling other players as not to draw too much aggro. These fiends are particulary stronger than those found in the normal world, almost comparable to those monsters who inhabit Chantra's dungeons. Beware, some quests actually require you to kill monsters in the Battle Squares, at the risk of being killed by other players.
Guild Battles and Castle Sieges: Becoming Archlord
